I am one of the many followers of the frozen yogurt (fro-yo) craze. I like my yogurt plain and tart with tons of mochi on top. There are a couple of good fro-yo places near my work that I visit quite often for quick lunches. One of which is Yogen Fruz.
Yogen Fruz is a yogurt stand in the Embarcadero 3 building in San Francisco. What’s unique about the Canadian yogurt shop is that you can create your own flavor of yogurt. They have an assortment of fruit and syrups you can choose from and they will mix into a plain tart yogurt. In addition to that, they have another section of toppings you can pick from. Special mixes they offer include Key Lime Pie and Chocolate Almond.
I got the plain acai berry frozen yogurt. This one is actually pre-mixed and comes straight out of the fro-yo machine. The yogurt has little pieces of acai berry pulp mixed into a plain tart yogurt. It almost tastes like blueberries or raspberries.
There’s an urban myth that acai berries are a superfood with anti-aging and weight loss properties, but there’s no study that has proven true. It is an anti-oxidant though, so it’s undoubtedly good for you.
My friend at Fro-Yo Lover came with me as well. She got my second favorite which is the Key Lime Pie—key lime yogurt mixed with pie crumbs.
